Nowadays, plastic pollution presents a huge problem. Dave Hakkens started working on the topic of plastic recycling in 2012, during his studies at the Design Academy in Eindhoven.

In the following year, as a part of his graduation thesis, he released the first version of Precious Plastic Machines. As soon as three people succeeded in independently replicating the model of the machine, the Project started to gain attention. It didn’t take long for young enthusiasts from all over the world to start to build the machines, open recycling businesses, and contribute to this new platform.

Eight years in, Precious Plastic Universe is an open-source platform where you too can learn how to recycle your plastic waste, and open your own little circular business.
